The annual Nevis Marathon & Running Festival took place on September 2, where participants chose from a variety of race options, including a full marathon covering 26.2 miles, a half marathon spanning 13.1 miles, a dynamic 10k run, or a spirited 5k run. The Marathon was first up on the day’s schedule, with a start time of 5:00 am, and the remaining races followed within 15-minute intervals of one another. The Nevis Marathon is a renowned annual sporting event that combines the thrill of running with the breathtaking beauty of the island’s natural surroundings.

One of the most enticing aspects of the Nevis Marathon is its unique course; participants embark on a journey that winds through the island’s enchanting villages, historic sugar plantations, and along its pristine beaches. This diverse terrain adds an element of excitement to the race, as runners navigate both challenging hills and refreshing coastal stretches.

This year’s festival featured representatives from eight countries, with a notable highlight being the marathon’s complete circumnavigation of Nevis island. Aid and nutrition station volunteers were positioned around the course in equal and predictable intervals and safety services were provided by the Nevis Red Cross.

The winners of the Nevis Marathon were Judic Martin of St. Maarten in the male category with a time of  3:33:45 and Vanessa Williams of Nevis in the female category with a time of 5:49:37. The half marathon winners included Carlos Franco Cortes of Saba  in the male category with an overall time of 1:37:20 and Alissone Monteclian of St. Martin in the female category with an overall time of 2:04:53. For the 10K run, Antoine Lhomme of Nevis took first place in the male category with a time of 1:05:05 and Andrea Peda of St.Kitts secured first place in the female category with a time of 53:48. Corris Richards of Nevis earned first place in the male category for the 5K run with a time of 24:23 and Ayla Bus Kiric of Saba obtained first place in the female category with a time of 31:56.
